Tibet Days 2025: Commemorating the 66th Anniversary of the Tibetan National Uprising and Celebrating the Dalai Lama’s 90th Birthday

Tibet Days 2025 is set to take place in The Hague, marking the 66th anniversary of the Tibetan National Uprising and honoring the “Year of Compassion” in celebration of His Holiness the Dalai Lama’s 90th birthday. Through a diverse and thought-provoking program, attendees will engage in discussions about Tibetan identity, history, and the intersection of Asian and European perspectives on politics, human rights, and cultural preservation.

Tibet Days 2025 will bring together scholars, activists, and thought leaders to explore the role of Tibet in the contemporary world. The event will focus on themes of resistance, cultural survival, and global solidarity, reflecting on Tibet’s past, present, and future.

Echoes from Forgotten Mountains: Tibet in War and Peace
Tibet Days 2025 will begin with the European launch of Echoes from Forgotten Mountains: Tibet in War and Peace, a groundbreaking work by U.S.-based Tibetan author and political writer Jamyang Norbu. The book presents firsthand accounts of Tibetan resistance fighters, spies, refugees, and citizens, offering a unique perspective on Tibet’s struggle for freedom. Norbu will be present to discuss his work and engage with attendees.

Resistance in Focus: A Panel Discussion
In recognition of the 66th anniversary of the 1959 Tibetan Uprising, and in honor of International Women’s Day. This panel will integrate discussions on how gender intersects with resistance movements, particularly focusing on the role of women in struggles for freedom, environmental justice, and cultural preservation.
