Tibet Discovered on a 1655 World Map at the Royal Palace in Amsterdam
Tibetan groups in the Netherlands have discovered an image of Tibet that is considered one of the earliest and most accurate depictions of Tibet on a European world map. The impressive map, created in 1655 and on display in the Burgerzaal of the Royal Palace, correctly and clearly placed Tibet on the world stage. This news segment from RTL4 aired on March 10, 2026, after the map was unveiled by the International Campaign for Tibet and other Tibetan groups on Dam Square in Amsterdam.
