Tibetan Empowerment Days

Empowering the next generation of Tibet advocates in Europe

The Tibetan Empowerment Days in bring together young Tibetans and Tibet supporters from across Europe for an intensive advocacy training programme in Brussels. Over several days, participants gain a deeper understanding of the European Union’s role in promoting human rights in China and Tibet and learn how to effectively engage decision-makers on Tibet

The programme includes workshops on EU institutions and policies towards China and Tibet, communication and advocacy training, and meetings with policymakers in the European Parliament. For the participants, it is a valuable opportunity to experience European democracy firsthand and to strengthen their voices as the next generation of advocates for Tibet.

Organised by ICT’s office in Brussels, the Tibetan Empowerment Days (previously known as the “Tibet Lobby Days”) are part of ICT’s Tibetan Youth Empowerment Programs, which began in the United States in 2001. By extending this successful model to Europe, ICT helps young advocates strengthen their leadership skills, build networks, and contribute to a stronger, united movement for Tibet.

What our latest participants say about the programme:

“This programme feels like adding wood to a fire — it strengthens our voices and sustains the spirit of resistance against oppression. I am truly grateful for this experience.”

– Saorán, participant from Ireland to the 2025 edition of the Tibetan Empowerment Days

It allowed me to gain valuable insights into the inner workings of the European Union, knowledge that will strengthen my efforts to further the Tibetan cause.”
