Political Prisoners Fund

Stand with Tibet’s Political Prisoners and support those who suffer for speaking out peacefully.

In Tibet, those who peacefully defend their rights can pay a very high price being imprisoned under inhumane conditions, subjected to torture, and forced into degrading “re-education” programs.

For over 30 years, ICT has worked for the release of Tibetan political prisoners. But their struggle does not end when they leave prison. Many continue to face trauma, poverty, and isolation. That is why ICT founded the Political Prisoner Partner Fund in order to provide long-term support where it is needed most.

Together with former Tibetan political prisoners in exile, we are building partnerships to improve the lives of those who suffered in Tibet’s prisons.

“I pretend to be happy, but it is impossible to feel joy.”

Phuntsok Nyidron

Imprisoned for 15 years after joining a peaceful protest, Phuntsok now lives in Switzerland, trying to rebuild her life. She struggles with language barriers, separation from her family in Tibet, and the trauma of her imprisonment.

What your partnership makes possible

  • Medical care: Supporting physical and mental recovery from visible and invisible wounds of imprisonment.
  • Economic support: Providing vocational training and language courses for those who cannot find work.
  • Social support: Building networks for former prisoners and their children to regain dignity and community.
  • Memoirs: Helping survivors share their stories by writing, translating, and publishing their experiences.

In 2021 alone, ICT needed €50,000 to fund these projects. With your help, we can continue to provide essential care and support.
