For Freedom in Tibet
For more than 30 years, the International Campaign for Tibet has worked for a future where Tibetans can live freely, in dignity and peace.
For over three decades, the International Campaign for Tibet (ICT) has served the vision of His Holiness the Dalai Lama and the Tibetan people: a vision rooted in non-violence, dialogue, and the preservation of Tibet’s rich cultural and spiritual heritage.
As the largest Tibet support organisation in the world, ICT helps Tibetans in their peaceful struggle for democracy, human rights, and self-determination. Since 1988, we have worked with elected leaders, parliaments, and citizens worldwide to turn compassion into action for Tibet.
Through consistent advocacy, ICT has helped shape major political progress, such as including the adoption of the Tibetan Policy Act and the Reciprocal Access to Tibet Act. Additionaly, ICT continues to push for policies that protect Tibet’s environment, language, and culture.
Beyond political change, ICT has supported the release and rehabilitation of Tibetan political prisoners, and helped strengthen communities in exile through programs such as the Tibetan Youth Leadership Program and the Rowell Fund for Tibet.
Through our monitoring and reports, we expose the reality of human rights and environmental issues in Tibet, even as the Chinese government tries to hide them, and reach out to Chinese citizens to build understanding and trust.
Our Vision
A Tibet where human rights, religious freedom, and cultural identity are respected; where Tibetans live in peace with the environment of the “Roof of the World”; and where dialogue replaces repression.
Our Goals
- Defend Human Rights and Freedom – Expose violations, advocate for justice, and support those imprisoned for their beliefs.
- Protect Tibet’s Environment and Climate – Highlight the global importance of Tibet’s water, land, and biodiversity.
- Promote Dialogue and Self-Determination – Encourage peaceful engagement between Tibet and China.
- Preserve Culture and Education – Support initiatives that keep Tibet’s language, religion, and knowledge systems alive.
- Empower Tibetans and Allies – Build leadership and resilience within the Tibetan community and among global supporters.
ICT’s mission continues through its offices in Washington, DC, Amsterdam, Berlin, and Brussels. All offices are united in their purpose: to ensure Tibet’s story of freedom, compassion, and resilience remains heard across the world.
