Security & Transnational Repression

Security & Transnational Repression

Even outside Tibet, Tibetans face threats, surveillance, and pressure from the Chinese state.

Tibetans who flee repression in their homeland are not always safe once they reach exile. The Chinese government systematically monitors and intimidates Tibetan communities abroad, using transnational repression to silence voices of dissent and discourage activism. This can include surveillance, online harassment, threats to family members in Tibet, and pressure on host governments

By exposing and countering this repression, it is possible to help safeguard the freedom, security, and dignity of Tibetans worldwide.

Our work includes:

  • Engaging policymakers to include transnational repression in security and human rights agendas
  • Strengthening Tibetan communities in exile through awareness

Transnational repression is not only a Tibetan issue, it threatens the rights and safety of all communities targeted by authoritarian states. By defending Tibetans in Europe, we also defend democratic values everywhere
