In honor of the 90th birthday of His Holiness the Dalai Lama

International Campaign for Tibet’s (ICT) Great Compassion calendar celebrates the 90th birthday of His Holiness the Dalai Lama and the power of compassion – the silent force capable of healing and transformation.

We are honored to collaborate with our friends at Mutts Comics and share a selection of our favorite illustrations and quotes from Heart to Heart, a special collaboration between His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama and renowned illustrator Patrick McDonnell. With gentle wisdom and moving simplicity, this book invites us to reflect on our connection – to each other and to the earth on which we all live.

It is a call for a Compassion Revolution – a reminder, as His Holiness writes, that “we are indeed all members of one family, sharing together one small house.”

As His Holiness reminds us, compassion is not a passive feeling – it is a force for action. Compassion is also what drives us in our work: strengthening human rights, protecting culture, and promoting freedom and dignity for the Tibetan people. It is this same compassion that keeps the Tibetan spirit alive, both in exile and in Tibet, despite all that opposes it.

May each month of this calendar bring a moment of reflection, a glimmer of hope or a small inspiration to act with greater compassion. Together we can work for the world His Holiness envisions – a world rooted in compassion, justice and peace.
