Tibetans risk imprisonment simply for <strong>speaking their language, practicing their faith, or expressing their views<\/strong>. Under the leadership of President Xi Jinping, repression has intensified:&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Arbitrary detentions<\/strong> of writers, monks, and community leaders\u00a0<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Severe limits on freedom of expression and association<\/strong>\u00a0<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Destruction of monasteries and restrictions on religious practice<\/strong>\u00a0<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:20px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A particularly urgent issue is the <strong>succession of the Dalai Lama<\/strong>. The Chinese government has openly declared its intention to <strong>control the selection of Tibet\u2019s spiritual leader<\/strong>, an act that would violate Tibetans\u2019 religious freedom and further erode their autonomy. ICT works to ensure that <strong>Tibetans themselves, not Beijing, decide the future of the Dalai Lama institution<\/strong>.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:40px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size wp-block-paragraph\"><strong><em>Our work includes:<\/em><\/strong>&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Documenting and reporting<\/strong> on human rights violations in Tibet\u00a0<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Engaging the UN and European governments<\/strong> to hold China accountable\u00a0<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Advocating for religious freedom<\/strong>, especially the right of Tibetans to freely choose their spiritual leaders\u00a0<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Raising awareness<\/strong> globally to prevent China from interfering in the Dalai Lama\u2019s succession\u00a0<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:40px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Defending human rights and religious freedom in Tibet is not only about protecting a people\u2019s identity, it is about <strong>upholding universal values<\/strong> of dignity, self-determination, and freedom of belief.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:40px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-center has-medium-font-size wp-block-paragraph\"><a href=\"https:\/\/savetibet.nl\/donate\/\">\ud83d\udc49 <strong>Help us protect Tibetans\u2019 rights and freedoms and support ICT\u2019s human rights work today.<\/strong>\u00a0<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Defending Fundamental Freedoms in Tibet\u00a0 From language to religion, Tibetans face severe restrictions that threaten their identity and future.\u00a0 In Tibet, basic human rights are systematically denied.
