From June 1 to 3, the 18th edition of the Oslo Freedom Forum took place in Oslo, an international platform where human rights defenders, activists, and policymakers come together to stand up for freedom and democracy. Tibet was also strongly represented this year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A particular highlight was the presentation of the V\u00e1clav Havel Prize for Creative Dissent to Richard Gere, Chairman of the International Campaign for Tibet, for his years of dedication to human rights and the Tibetan cause. Tencho Gyatso, President of ICT, and Wangpo Tethong, Executive Director of ICT-Europe, were also present at the forum.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In addition, various Tibetan activists participated in the program, including Dr. Lobsang Sangay, former Sikyong of the Central Tibetan Administration, Chemi Lhamo, and Tsela Zoksang. The Tibetan voice was also represented by Tenzin Choegyal, the Grammy-nominated artist who delivered an impressive musical performance during the forum.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The strong Tibetan presence underlined the continuing importance of international attention to the human rights situation in Tibet and the struggle for freedom, cultural identity and justice.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
