The photographs depict deeply troubling scenes of indoctrination. Tibetan kindergarten children dressed in camouflage uniforms march under the Chinese flag and participate in simulated combat exercise. The children carry imitation rifles for the activities described by Chinese state media as \u201cimmersive and distinctive national defense and ethnic unity-themed educational activities.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image aligncenter is-resized\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/savetibet.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/06\/20260610-child-training-03-700x368.jpg\" alt=\"Children military training\" class=\"wp-image-2469284\" style=\"width:582px;height:auto\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:20px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\" style=\"font-size:18px\">The images were published on 26 May 2026 in a <a href=\"https:\/\/archive.ph\/wip\/plCv8\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">report<\/a> by the CCP\u2019s United Front Work Department on state media. The report, titled <em>\u201cNurturing a Love for the Country, Children Guard the Border \u2014 Tsona City Kindergarten Holds Educational Activities on National Defense and Ethnic Unity,\u201d<\/em> openly highlights these activities as a model initiative.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\" style=\"font-size:18px\">According to the report, the stated objective of the training activities is to instil in young children \u201ca sincere love for the Party, the country, and their hometown,\u201d alongside \u201ca commitment to defending the border.\u201d The program further aims to \u201cadvance early childhood national defense education\u201d and strengthen \u201cethnic unity education.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/savetibet.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/06\/20260610-child-training-02-700x368.jpg\" alt=\"advance early childhood national defense education\" class=\"wp-image-2469285\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:20px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\" style=\"font-size:18px\">ICT strongly condemns these practices. \u201cThe images from Tsona are deeply disturbing. No child should be subjected to military-style training or made to simulate combat &#8211; especially not in kindergartens,\u201d ICT said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\" style=\"font-size:18px\">Beyond the militarization itself, ICT emphasizes the broader context of systematic ideological indoctrination. Tibetan children are not only exposed to military imagery and discipline at an early age; they are also subjected to state-driven narratives on \u201cethnic unity.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\" style=\"font-size:18px\">\u201cWhat makes this even more alarming is that these children are simultaneously being indoctrinated with political ideology that threatens the survival of Tibetan culture,\u201d ICT added. \u201cIn a border region such as Tsona, this also intersects with China\u2019s assertive posture toward India, raising further concerns about the instrumentalization of children in state narratives.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/savetibet.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/06\/20260610-child-training-01-700x368.jpg\" alt=\"children military training\" class=\"wp-image-2469286\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:20px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\" style=\"font-size:18px\">The developments in Tsona are not isolated. ICT has documented a broader pattern of <a href=\"https:\/\/savetibet.de\/aktuelle-nachrichten\/meldungen\/tibet-militaerischer-drill-fuer-schueler\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">expanding militarization<\/a> and of <a href=\"https:\/\/savetibet.nl\/en\/news\/follow-the-party-drive-to-indoctrinate-tibetan-children-continues\/\">indoctrination<\/a> in Tibetan education systems.
