{"id":13124,"date":"2025-05-20T00:00:00","date_gmt":"2025-05-19T22:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/savetibet.nl\/nieuws\/icts-report-crisis-of-credibility-shines-light-on-current-state-of-tibetan-leadership\/"},"modified":"2025-05-20T00:00:00","modified_gmt":"2025-05-19T22:00:00","slug":"icts-report-crisis-of-credibility-shines-light-on-current-state-of-tibetan-leadership","status":"publish","type":"nieuws","link":"https:\/\/savetibet.nl\/en\/news\/icts-report-crisis-of-credibility-shines-light-on-current-state-of-tibetan-leadership\/","title":{"rendered":"ICT\u2019s report \u201cCrisis of credibility\u201d shines light on current state of Tibetan leadership"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The International Campaign for Tibet (ICT) has released \u201cCrisis of credibility: China\u2019s leaders in Tibet selected for loyalty to CCP over welfare of Tibetan people\u201d, its newest report on the absence of any effective Tibetan leadership in Tibet, which includes the Tibet Autonomous Region and the Tibetan areas incorporated in Sichuan, Yunnan, Qinghai and Gansu.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This analysis follows a <a href=\"https:\/\/savetibet.org\/underrepresented-tibetans-kept-out-of-most-leadership-positions\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">previous report from March 2024<\/a> showing that Tibetans in leadership positions continue to be largely filled in token positions without even the semblance of autonomy that was guaranteed under the <a href=\"https:\/\/tibet.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/10\/FACTS-ABOUT-17-POINT-AGREEMENT..pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">17 Point Agreement of May 23, 1951<\/a>. The CCP, which virtually forced the Tibetan representatives to sign and accept this unequal agreement then, continue to display it as a symbol of freedom and rights of the Tibetan people, which they will do during this anniversary week of the agreement.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Chinese government claims to have \u201cliberated\u201d Tibet from \u201cfeudal lords\u201d but this report shows that ironically even today the CCP relies on many members of the \u201cfeudal lords\u201d to do its bidding in Tibet.
