China undermines the work of international rights bodies, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.savetibet.org\/new-ict-report-reveals-chinas-strategies-of-weaponizing-access-to-tibet\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">denies access<\/a>, seeks to restrict civil society globally and exports its authoritarian model to countries susceptible to such tendencies,<\/em>\u201d said Kai Mueller, Head of UN advocacy for ICT and Executive Director of ICT Germany.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201c<em>What Tibetans, Uyghurs, Mongols and others experience under Beijing\u2019s rule should be a warning sign for the rest of the world. The international community must push back and speak up for those who suffer from China\u2019s policies. The Universal Period Review at the Human Rights Council in Geneva this week is the perfect opportunity to do so.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">With <a href=\"http:\/\/www.savetibet.org\/china-tightens-screws-on-tibetan-buddhism\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">religious freedom in Tibet<\/a> practically non-existent and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.savetibet.org\/destruction-commercialization-fake-replicas-new-report-on-lhasa-as-unesco-world-heritage-committee-meets\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Tibetan cultural heritage<\/a> under pressure, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.savetibet.org\/brave-solo-protests-show-tibetans-remarkable-courage-and-steadfast-loyalty-to-the-dalai-lama\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">peaceful protests by Tibetans<\/a> must be supported unequivocally, ICT said.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201c<em>The international community must not fall for Beijing\u2019s misleading development narrative that portrays its top-down and authoritarian approach to economic, social and environmental policies as being in the best interest of the people. Tibetan herders and nomads, hundreds of thousands of whom have been discriminated against, resettled and relocated, suffer from these policies,<\/em>\u201d Mueller said.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">&#8220;<a href=\"http:\/\/www.savetibet.org\/mass-migration-program-highlights-contested-nomads-resettlement-policies-in-tibet\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Mas<em>sive interventions into people\u2019s lives<\/em><\/a><em> under the guise of environmental protection continue, while Tibet\u2019s mineral and water resources are being exploited recklessly.<\/em>&#8220;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201c<em>The Chinese government must change its course to create real stability in Tibet. It can do so by addressing the long-standing grievances of the Tibetan people and engaging in a substantial dialogue with the Dalai Lama and his representatives<\/em>.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">In a <a href=\"http:\/\/www.savetibet.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/03\/FIDH_ICT_Joint_Submission_UPR_China1.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">joint report<\/a> submitted for the third Universal Periodic Review of China, FIDH (International Federation for Human Rights) and ICT documented a dramatic deterioration of the human rights situation in Tibet.
