He was jailed three times between 2008 and 2012, before escaping to India. He is now living in Switzerland, where he was granted political asylum.\n\n<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-large wp-image-18635\" src=\"http:\/\/www.savetibet.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/03\/TIG-screening-DSCF1743-600x296.jpg\" sizes=\"(max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" srcset=\"http:\/\/www.savetibet.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/03\/TIG-screening-DSCF1743-300x148.jpg 300w, http:\/\/www.savetibet.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/03\/TIG-screening-DSCF1743-768x379.jpg 768w, http:\/\/www.savetibet.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/03\/TIG-screening-DSCF1743-600x296.jpg 600w\" alt=\"&quot;Leaving Fear Behind&quot;\" width=\"600\" height=\"296\" \/>\n\nDuring a meeting with the NGOs FIDH, Amnesty International and Human Rights Watch, Golog Jigme expressed his gratitude for their support for his case when he was in prison.\n\nOn March 16, he told the European Parliament\u2019s Subcommittee on Human Rights: \u201c<em>Please do not pretend as if you do not see and hear the Tibetan people\u2019s suffering. Tibet has become like a prison under Chinese occupation. I escaped from this prison. I came to a free country. My body is in a free country but my heart will always re-main with the suffering of my Tibetan brothers and sisters.<\/em>\u201d\n\nGolog Jigme called China to impose a moratorium on the re-settlement of Tibetan pastoral nomads and to put an end to the annual lockdown of the Tibet Autonomous Region around 10 March.\n\nGolog Jigme told members of the European Parliament: \u201c<em>I urge China to improve the living conditions of the Tibetan political prisoners currently in Chinese prisons and urge the EU to put pressure on China to release all those Tibetans who have been detained and sentenced for peaceful expression of views or non-violent dissent as Shokjang, a young <a href=\"https:\/\/www.savetibet.org\/popular-courageous-tibetan-blogger-sentenced-to-three-years-in-prison\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Tibetan writer and blogger sentenced to three years<\/a> in prison in February (2016).<\/em>\u201d\n\nAt the European Parliament hearing, Joelle Hivonnet, Senior Policy Officer at the China Division of the European External Action Service (EEAS), said: \u201c<em>We were hum-bled by his testimony which unfortunately confirms some of the accounts that we have heard from other people.
